Here’s an opportunity for a social work researcher or academic to join the Social Work Research Podcast working group

The Social Work Research Podcast has been going for over a year and has grown a strong following among social work students, practitioners and researchers. It was set up to help bring social work research to a wider audience. The in-depth conversations with researchers provide resources for learning and continuing professional development from the podcast (some templates to assist this can be accessed here).

Supporting the podcast, we have set up a working group of practitioners, researchers and people who use social work. This group provides some valuable guidance for the podcast and has started to produce its own podcast episodes, which will soon be published by the Social Work Research Podcast. To grow the companion episodes, we are now seeking a social work researcher or academic to join the working group to work on these podcasts with us.

This provides an excellent professional development opportunity for a researcher interested in bringing academic research and social work practice closer together. It will help to develop skills in understanding diverse research methodologies and how research can be applied in practice. We are unable to offer any payment, as the podcast is entirely a voluntary endeavour, but it should help with professional development, networking and broadening your research horizons.

The role will involve helping with new, shorter format episodes which discuss emerging research. Each episode will feature brief discussions of new research papers, with each participant (members of the working group) bringing a paper to discuss. It will be conversational in tone and your role will be to lead the discussion. The expectation would be to join at least one podcast recording per month alongside our broader working group. An induction will be provided, but no podcasting expertise is required
