Registration for the 9th International Conference on Social Work in Health and Mental Health is now open.
Hosted by the International Centre for Mental Health Social Research from 22-26 July 2019 at the University of York, this 5-day conference will bring service users, practitioners and researchers together from around the world to explore futures for social work in health and mental health.
The conference will have many themes, but will particularly focus on social workers’ roles in promoting human rights and social perspectives in their work with adults.
Registration
The registration fees are as low as possible to help make the conference as accessible as possible. There are day delegate rates for those able to attend for only a day or two. There are also reduced rates for people from low-income countries, students, service users and carers. Further information about how to register, and a link to the online registration form, can be found here.
Alongside registration, there are a number of accommodation options. Single en-suite rooms are available at the University of York at £70 per night bed and breakfast. Alternatively, delegates can book a room in a choice of four hotels in York, at a special conference rate. Further information about the accommodation options can be found here.
Tickets for the conference dinner on 24 July 2019 are also available at £45 each. This will feature the Huge Band providing after-dinner entertainment. It’s sure to be a great night!
The conference series also features visits to local agencies for delegates to experience local practitioners at work. We are currently setting up visits to social work and social care teams in York and North Yorkshire, which will be added to the registration site as they become confirmed.
Call for abstracts
We have received over 350 abstracts for the conference so far and are anticipating more. To provide additional time for prospective presenters to submit their abstract, we have extended the deadline to Friday 26th October 2018. So, if you haven’t done so already, please contact your collaborators, compose your abstracts and send them to us. Further information about our call for abstracts is available here.
We are really excited about how the programme is coming together. We have some excellent speakers lined up, and will be making announcements about additional plenary and keynote speakers in due course.
We look forward to welcoming social workers, service users, carers and researchers from across the world to York next July.
